Clos Maggiore, Covent Garden

With a title of “London’s most romantic restaurant”…. I expected a lot of pretty decorations & set up

The place was indeed gorgeous

Note: if you wanted to sit in their gorgeous conservatory dining room, you’d need to book well in advance.

Surprisingly, the food was also excellent

…and the service was outstanding!

We decided to go for the 5-course tasting menu… with my hubby doing the Seasonal Tasting Menu, and I opted for the Vegetarian Tasting Menu

They were both full of flavour bombs!

These mini cheese scones were divine
I ate the whole thing
all by myself
I would happily munch on these all day
everyday
My 1st course:
Smoked burrata from Puglia & heirloom beetroot
served with pink grapefruit & Catalan smoked almonds
with a drizzle of EVOO
(so good)
Hubby’s 1st course:
Hand picked Dorset crab remoulade & smoked salmon roulade
served with hot smoked salmon & fresh chive
(also excellent)
My 2nd course:
Char grilled Sicilian aubergine, stuffed with Courgette, pepper, and fresh basil
served with sweet & sour Datterino tomatoes
and white onion Pissaladière
Hubby’s 2nd course:
Pan roasted Les Landes duck liver
served with globe artichoke & hazelnut vinaigrette salad
and shimeji mushrooms
My 3rd course:
Hand rolled fresh parpadelle & grated fresh truffle
with wild mushrooms, Reggiano parmesan and truffle sauce
Hubby’s 3rd course:
Pan roasted wild Cornish sea bass
with braised fennel & crispy panisse
on bouillabaisse & tomato pesto emulsion
My 4th course:
New season vegetable casserole & french peas
served with crispy purse filled with smoked soya cheese & Provencal aromats
Hubby’s 4th course:
Slow cooked short rib of Black Angus beef & toasted hazelnuts
served with new season potato, bone marrow & flat parsley salad
on red wine sauce
For dessert, we shared this magnificent…
Clos Maggiore caramelised Valrhona chocolate sensation
with burnt honey ice cream
and armagnac jelly
